Balance is due 30 days proir to workshop start date.

This workshop is based in Moab, Utah, and visits Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, which contain some of the most breathtaking scenery in the United States. Full of hundreds of natural arches, slick rock canyons, balanced rocks, and wild vistas, the dynamic forces of wind, water and geologic upheaval have created a landscape of extraordinary beauty. This five day workshop will explore the very best these locations have to offer.

Joe will teach a variety of techniques—both in the field and in the classroom—that will allow you to advance both your technical skills and artistic vision. We focus on a number of professional field techniques to help you create dramatic and powerful nature images, including:
• Working with dramatic light, including sunrise and sunset;
• The fundamentals of powerful compositions;
• Long exposure techniques for incorporating time and motion in your photographs;
• Night photography including star trails, static star field shots, and light painting; and
• Abstract techniques for creating artistic photographs.

Transportation
Driving conditions will consist of mainly paved roads. When possible we prefer that participants car pool with each other to help limit our impact and get to know each other. A standard rental car will be sufficient.

Fitness Level
Moderate. This workshop does involve some short trail hiking to arrive at certain shooting locations, while other shooting locations will be just beyond the parking lot. Even short hikes to coastal locations can involve slippery, uneven terrain, so hiking boots are recommended. You don't have to be in tip-top shape, but your enjoyment will be enhanced by good health and preparation. A standard liability release form will be required before departure.

Whats Included
Location guiding, instruction, software training, classroom lessons, critiques and tons of inspiration!

Responsibility of the participants
Transportation to and from Moab, Utah; lodging accommodations and meals; and transportation to and from shooting locations.
